Sad To See It Go?: No

If there ever was a name I would see constantly in Maximum Rock 'n Roll, it was Jeff Dahl.  Angry Samoans are only a blip on his radar in a discography that spans over 2 dozen releases.  1991 saw him team up with Portland stalwarts Poison Idea for Dead Boy, a 7" Stiv Bators tribute that evolved into this 8-track EP released in 1992.  Side A of the original single was a cover of Lords of the New Church "Open Your Eyes."  Side B was the Dead Boys' "Flame Thrower Love."  The CD EP is fleshed out with an additional 3 tracks from each artist.

Normally this is a type of release you might find as an import for $25 in a punk specialty shop.  But, on St. Marks Place in the 90's there were stores with piles upon piles of used CD's for cheap.  Perhaps their own unwanted retail promos.  Smash used to throw CD's in crates outside rain or shine and I would often spend a couple Saturday afternoon hours digging for gold through the occasionally water logged, moldy and dirty piles.  There was always quality stuff and I would more often than not come away with a $10-20 stack.

This title I'm certain came from those bins.  As much as I love Angry Samoans, Poison Idea and the Dead Boys, I cannot remember playing this Stiv Bators tribute start to finish until today.  Pleasant background noise, but you aren't going to start here for any of these artists. The Ramones "I Just Want To Have Something To Do" is more notable for it's existence than the actual cover.
