Since Ringo hasn't played this Johnny Burnette cover since 2019 and didn't do an encore, I thought I'd encore myself with one last Ringo write-up for the foreseeable future.
Johnny Burnette was 26 when he release "You're Sixteen" and went to #8 on Billbaord in 1960. Ringo had an even bigger #1 hit with it in 1974.following up the prior #1, "Photograph." Befitting of a Beatle, but back to back #1's were not commonplace for Mr. Starkey after the Beatles. The celebratory kazoo put an explanation point on Ringo's wink. The B-side, Devil Woman was co-written by Vini Poncia, who I wrote about the other day from his Bad Boy (mis) production. Here, the track sounds tough, aided by Ringo's rocking drumming prominent in the mix.
Still peak Ringo, even if revisionist history wants to ban it.
