One of the more surprise sales of recent weeks was getting fifty bucks for the Jean-Michel Jarre 8-track Oxygene.  The copy I had was Canadian and came in a lot of 8-tracks that I probably paid less for than this sale, since I usually don't cross 30-40 dollars for the dice roll that is 8-track tapes.

I still have a vinyl copy of this.  On the 70's ambient Tangerine Dream scale it ranks slightly below, but Oxygene is still enjoyable start to finish in all it's multi-part glory.  There is an overarching feeling that it sounds like a television documentary musical bed.  I'm sure somebody, somewhere used the music for a soundtrack somewhere or other.  Worldwise this has sold 18 million and I'm sure it has spawned at least as many naps.

Including one I took today.

Bob opens Street-Legal.  Coincidentally, this was the amount of time he was a professional recording artist.  I wouldn't pin Bob on railing about his place in the marketplace, but I wouldn't put it past him to sneak it in either.  However, in my fantasy world,  Bob isn't bound by these earthly pursuits lyrically.  He can get paid and hash out issues with management and the help on his own ...
