The 70's double live album in general was usually something I'd bury as a one-timer.  Occasionally there are exceptions, but this one I never even had this Lynyrd Skynyrd live mainstay until recently.  I still have a vinyl copy of One More From The Road, but the copy that sold was an expanded double CD reissue from 2001.  The way it is broken up is that the second disc opens with "Sweet Home Alabama" swapping places from the original album with "The Needle And The Spoon."  This matched how the concert order as it was performed making "Sweet Home..." the set ender with the "Crossroads" Robert Johnson'Cream cover/"Free Bird."  We learn that some of the band took a trip to see Cream in Miami.  The second disc ads different versions of the songs played on the Atlanta Fox Theater run in 1976.  You get an abbreviated version of the whole concert again kicking off with "Working For MCA" adding "I Ain't The One," "Searching,"  "Gimmie Three Steps," and "Call Me The Breeze" before closing the disc with the same three songs the disc started with.  "Free Bird" goes from 14:18 to 14:55.

Interestingly the Fox Theatre was built in 1929 as a Shriners Hall that got bought out and converted to a movie palace.  It almost was demolished in 1974 but instead underwent renovations through 1975, so Skynyrd were playing in these shows in a newly restored theatre that still stands todays hosting the likes of Jill Scott and the Human League.  The revamped Skynyrd has occasionally returned to Fox in 1992, 1993, 2000 and the "one more for the fans" band tribute show in 2014.

No matter how you shake it up, most of these songs and performances stand the test of time.  The hits are forever the hits.  Gimmie Back My Bullets was the new release but the set pulled from all 5 albums plus covers of "Call Me The Breeze" by J.J. Cale and "Blue Yodel No. 1" aka "T For Texas" by Jimmie Rodgers in addition to "Crossroads."

Good for a bottle of Old Grandad and a Queenie with long brown curly hair.
