Bob Weir's mid 70's side band Kingfish subseqently is credited to Bob in his digital catalog.   I found this used for $5.99 in the mid-80's, sold it at some point and got this one in an auction lot a couple years ago.  I don't how I let it go so low below median price since this was a nice shape copy, but there may have been an overall run after Weir passed raising the median with high end copies selling closer to $50.

This was one of those albums that I never gave more than one spin to either copy I owned.  That said, it's a pretty good Weir solo record.  Not quite Ace, but what is?  The band with Weir consists of extensive Dead family tree associates Matthew Kelly (guitar and harmonica on this, harmonica on Wake of The Flood and Shakedown Street, also in Bobby and the Midnights), Dave Torbert on Bass (New Riders of the Purple Sage, played on "Box of Rain" and  "Greatest Story Ever Told"), Robbie Hoddinott on guitar (later in the Dinosaurs) and Chris Herold on drums and previously Horses with Kelly.  Horses released their original version of "Jump For Joy" as "Run Rabbit Run."   

The best place to get a feel for Kingfish 1976 is the Winterland video up from that February. Matthew Kelly is clearly the leader, even if Bob is the star.   "Supplication" got some heavy Dead performance in the 80's--I actually saw them do it in Worcester on two runs in 1984 and 1985. "Lazy Lightning" also made it to Worcester in 1984, but it was long time a standard inclusion, having made it into the Dead set in 1976 , 1977 and 1978.   You can get live versions of Kingfish doing "Wild Northland," "Asia Minor," "Home To Dixie," "Jump For Joy," "Goodbye Yer Honor," "Hypnotize,"  and "Bye and Bye." Bobby and The Midnights did "Big Iron" 

Enjoyable and it probably shouldn't have been buried.
