I'm not sure why Crystalized Movements issued this single as Crystlzd Mvmnts. Perhaps it is a truncated version of the band, since this record sounds a little 4-trackish. The B-side , "In A Room" covers an obscure 60's band of teenagers from Detroit called Mystic Shiva. When you listen to the full album you are reminded how commercially popular Jefferson Airplane were. The Mystic Shiva album was issued in 1971 on a label called VO Recording and reissued by a label just as obscure in 2001 called World In Sound. Russian pirates put it out in 2012 on a label called Klimt and issued it in France. Somehow their publicity team didn't reach me either and I am just now discovering Magic Shiva.
The A-side is tied for my favorite song by the band formally known as Crystalized Movements, 'The Lowest Step." The other one is "Spinning Around" but that is on an earlier album. "The Lowest Step" has everything I like about the band: crushing rhythm, a sunrise solo and Wayne Rogers great laconic vocals.
The sound of gorgeous understatement.
