Ashtabula was a late 90's band whose members did other things that were more known. I just bought it as something new I was unfamiliar with in the mid-90's to play on the radio. Being on the Siltbreeze label generally was reason enough for consideration.
Vocalist/guitarist Bob Malloy was also in Strapping Field Hands, Richard Fravel does both guitar and bass and later was in Mt. Vengeance and the drummer Ed Farnsworth joined Bardo Pond in the late 90's. As for this record, it has an enjoyable garage rock feel without being "garage." The vocals have a cheery lilt on the dark side of Tom Petty. Of the recent stack of records purchased this A-side I remembered liking after listening to it, but initially I completely forgot what they sounded like.
That's what 30 years will do to you.
