Angels of Epistemology were highly recommended by my friend Jimmy along with Chunk before they were Superchunk. These were early Merge releases before Merge was MERGE. At that time they were just another label from Chapel Hill doing small press records. Angels were already broken up by the time this single was out. Discogs has Merge put out a full CD in 1992 but unless it is retitled, I think the best song was left off. MRG 05 by Mac's Bricks is from 1989, I think this was out around the same time, Discogs and Merge itself for that matter be damned. "Slack Motherfucker" wasn't out til 1990, then the band blew up and came out on Matador and I swear I had this record before that. I'll have to unearth a deep in storage radio tape.
The song was "Vile and Disguting" into "William Campbell." I played this on the radio constantly and I'm pretty sure it was late 80's not so much 90's. It was a female spoken rock rant of a bunch of Beatle related rhetorical questions with a final question: "How do you get a hard on without chocolate sauce?" Perfection. The rest of it was just a long intro to that one.
They probably hate it.
