After the Sex Pistols, UK fashion monger Malcolm McLaren turned his sights to bringing Bronx hip-hop to the UK in 1982 with his Duck Rock album.  He was aided and abbeted by the World Famous Supreme Team Radio Show straight out the B. X (well actually WHBI in Newark, New Jersey, but it's signal covered NYC).   From the UK to "Asia, Africa, Tokyo, Mexico..."  This mini-album follow that up the next year with a special version of "D'ya Like Scratchin'," "She's Looking Like A Hobo"  (with the scratch version on the flip) and the song Eminem brought to the masses in 2002 on "Without Me," a DJ cut special stereo mix of "Buffalo Gals."

You can only nod your head that McLaren made lightning strike twice with "the best record to come out of the UK in 5 years."  It might've even had more cultural impact overall worldwide than "God Save The Queen" did in terms of overall modern day influence.  Producer Trevor Horn had the Art Of Noise as his own hit making forum and went on to also ruin Yes on 90125.     I probably saw a 1982 Duck Rock review in Rolling Stone and my eyes glazed over it.  That I appreciate it now for what it is doesn't mean I'll ever want to hear it again, but in the short dose of this 12" "mini-album," I enjoyed it much more than anything else Horn has ever been involved with.

All that scratchin' is making me itch!
