The Greenpoint found bag of CD's continues to produce sales, this time with the second Jeff Buckley sale this month, the original Live at Sin-é. Originally this was issued as a commercially released 4-song live EP before his 1994 debut Grace. Since he passed in 1997, this was expanded to 34 tracks when his woodshedding at the NYC small venue became legendary.
"Mojo Pin" was revisited as the opening track on Grace and it opens here as well. "Eternal Life" was also on Grace. Then we get a couple covers: Edith PIaf "Je N'en Connais Pas La Fin" and Van Morrison "The Way Young Lovers Do."
Obviously, circumstance made this held in higher regard than it might have been had Jeff Buckley not drowned and had a normal length career. I remember a friend of mine really getting into this at the time before Grace, so it did have some impact beyond a normal pre-album EP. I guess I prefer the postumous live record his mother put together to anything he did in his lifetime.
Embryonic and fully realized at the same time, I guess.
