This is one of those "common" records I've had for many years and this one I got in a lot. This copy actually had the original gatefold. Since I always had a single pocket copy as far back as the early 80's, I never looked at other copies to see that the original had this configuration. Although I had it up for close to $20, I had a rando flip thru auction and somebody took it for $5. Chalk it up to the spirit of experimentation of trying to move records. I don't really do ebay for this reason and that might very well be the better platform although I like the live host approach. I have more fun coming up with AI web flyer concepts and hosting than the actual moving of records.
I always thought this was a middling album. The title track of course was the lone megahit. He's a joker, he's a smoker, he's a midnight fuckin' toker. Some of the tracks are great. "Mary Lou" stands out. "Your Cash Ain't Nothing But Trash" seems like memorable blues filler with gunshot sound effects. "Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma Ma" is a nice jam with a guitar solo. Probably my favorite cut on the record is "Something To Believe In" with it's plaintive lilt.
The joker will come to you in your dream.
