It's a shame that the powers that be took this great compilation out of digital circulation due to the outdated title.  That wasn't the case in the CD era where it was considered a bit of a classic.  The Rolling Stone Record Guide has it as the groups lone 5-star album.    In 1976 the songs within were indeed the groups top hits.  This is before "Open Sesame" was on Saturday Night Fever, before "Ladies Night," "Celebration" and all the MOR ballads like "Cherish" dominated Billboard in the 80's.

While I might find some pleasure in "Ladies Night," the songs on this record are the ones I really want to hear.  "Jungle Boogie," "Hollywood Swinging," "Spirit Of The Boogie," the amazing theme song "Kool & The Gang," "Funky Stuff" and even "More Funky Stuff."  And you get the 9 plus minute version of "Open Sesame."  Fun factoid: although it didn't make the soundtrack, "Summer Madness" can be heard in the film Rocky.

Get down with the Genie!

Bob opens Street-Legal.  Coincidentally, this was the amount of time he was a professional recording artist.  I wouldn't pin Bob on railing about his place in the marketplace, but I wouldn't put it past him to sneak it in either.  However, in my fantasy world,  Bob isn't bound by these earthly pursuits lyrically.  He can get paid and hash out issues with management and the help on his own ...
