"Draco fears nothing or no one. Least of all YOU Spiderman!"-Draco, King of the Dragonmen
A childhood favorite I found in the 70's for 50 cents paid for by my parents at some kind of outdoor festival. That copy went through the rigors and I found this one sometime later in a dollar bin somewhere sometime in my 20's.
When you listen to a children's record you hadn't heard since childhood, one of the interesting things is what your brain retained and what it discarded. Also interesting are details you never thought of that you remember immediately.
Certain quotes and scenarios stuck with me throughout life. The wife with the faux-British accent talking to her husband not knowing he was murdered in "Return Of The Conquistador." Henry? Henry? What's keeping him? The cry of "Oh Henry" sounded more like yelling at someone far away to come to breakfast. I figured it out, but it never sounded like a "tragic moment of discovery." The intro music with the Spanish guitar I completely forgot about. Straight out of the songbook of Oscar Ghiglia.
Professor Don Diego de Cordovan is the conquistador. We are taught that teachers and scientists are a front for "evildoers" that must be brought to heal before they destroy all of humanity. Demostenes Q. Drake, winner of the Nobel Prize in Biology thought lost in the Amazon. Drake injected the gene of the Iguana into the bloodstream of a human making for a man-beast King of The Dragons. Unfortunately for Draco he falls 20 flights looking to tear "mutant" Spiderman limb from limb.
Science isn't fully hated by the "forces of good." "Destruction of knowledge is a terrible thing. A abominable thing!" Spiderman opines to Merlin The Magician aka "The Abominable Showman." He attempts to bomb science labs in colleges across the country that rejected his "mind over matter" theory. Spiderman brings him to heal despite advanced mind control and a murderous robot named Cosmo and a trained monkey named Rasputin. The monkey is killed and the robot slung into a heap by Spiderman's web.
Sort've like modern times.
