Sad To See It Go: No

I was wracking my brain for the one time I remembered seeing Kinski.  I seemed to remember them playing at Club Europa in Brooklyn and looking that up on setlist.fm, they played there in 2007.  I didn't even realize they moved from Sub Pop to Kill Rock Stars or did stuff with Acid Mothers Temple.  Despite liking them when I saw them, it never translated into exploring their catalog.  Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I saw them at a Terrastock sometime before they became more established on Sub Pop.  I definitely was there in 2002, but I was selling CD's for Rubric that year and bouncing between venues so that memory is even hazier than the Europa show.

7 (or 8) seems to be referring to the number of "official" releases the band put out at the time of this release.  It seems like there are plenty of co-releases, self-releases and detritus that I've blissfully ignored all these years.  I'm starting with a clean slate with this album as far as putting any focus into their recorded work.

It kicks off with a quality "Fountain Rocker"(named for the taste of the previous owner of this CD) called "Detroit Trickle Down."  The other one that stands out on the third listen is the vocal track "Operation Negligee."  Really all of this was good and I suspect that you could get any of their releases and hear the same level of quality.  The still show up at Psych festivals in Seattle and Europe as recently as last year, so I guess it is safe to call Kinski an active band.

Definitely worthy of further listening.
