The second Cars album may not have the "fire power" of hit quantity the debut has, but I prefer it ever so slightly. I bought my first copy of this in the early 80's used, sold it in 2019 and got another vinyl copy a few years back. This 8-track came in a recent lot and ended up in the refurbish pile due to a faulty foil. It came back a few weeks ago fixed and fine.
Aside from the mega-hit "Let's Go" sung by Ben Orr, the Ocasek radio hits are "Double Life," "All I Can Do" and "Dangerous Type." You can't really go wrong with any of those. The rest may not be as popular, but they are quality. The Melvins covered the title track on their second album Ozma about a decade after the original.
The 8-track reorders the tracks. "I've Got A Lot On My Head" moves to the third song on the album vs. second to last on the vinyl. The hit "It's All I Can Do" now wraps up Track 3. The final track pairs "Lust For Life" with the vinyl closer "Dangerous Type." I can't say there was much shake up in the reorder, but change is change. The only thing you can't really split up on the record is the reverb-laden Suicide sounding "Shoo-Be-Doo" and the segue way into "Candy-O."
As far as top 40 hits go, I stll never tire of "Let's Go."
