Lonerism was an album an old roommate had and played frequently enough for me to decide that I liked it, particularly the track "Elephant." This wound up in the discarded CD pile Jimmy Fountain gave me a few years back that his local used store wouldn't take when he was cleaning house. Outside of Nig Heist, this may be the title in the pile that I was most familiar with.
Anyway, Tame Impala come off overall like a post Warner Bros-era Flaming Lips disciple. Leader Kevin Parker hails from Perth, Australia and there also seems to be a bit imparted on King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, perhaps in a bad way. So there you have it, somewhere in the middle of that continuum. I will say there is more guitar than glitch, so the record is generally enjoyable throughout. After "Elephant," "Music To Walk Home By" is my favorite track followed by "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards."
As far as "modern" (now 12 years old) indie rock goes, enjoyably atmospheric.
