Early 90's noise rock from Los Angeles made up of KXLU DJ's. This was the 10th release from the NYC label PCP Entertainment that specialized in noise. At some point they were distributed by Matador, but I'm pretty sure this record was before that era.
Slug had a bit of what I'm calling today "satisfying noise rock genericism." There is a bit of a tried and true formula in both songs. The A-side utilizes a pummeling bass line, distorted vocals and and a loud snare driven beat before a mumbling second part that is a hallmark of early 90 noise rock songwriting before it goes back to the first part.
The B-side "Seitenwagen" (Sidecar in English) opens with a German speaking in German over the phone. Phone tapes were another noise rock hallmark. The song verse kicks in, but then the German returns. Apparently the German was a photographer named Daniel Rohnert, but that is almost completely inconsequential. Discogs links him 15 years later to photography work for Hot Water Music and nothing else making one wonder if this is the same person.
The mind drifts from time to time.
