Excellent single a year prior to the Homestead Records release Get Wise that I always liked to play on the radio and bought at some point in time. The Wayland MA address and label name made me wonder if this came with an issue of Gerard Cosloy’s Conflict zine since the only other release on the label was the classic Bands That Could Be God compilation. Leader Nat Freedberg went on to form other Boston Rock mainstays The Titanics and the Upper Crust. For whatever reason I always liked the Flies best and didn't really link the three bands in their day. Upper Crust is probably the one I saw the most, although I did see the Titanics at some point in time.
Anyway, the B-side which I can't seem to find in streamland features Mission Of Burma's Clint Connelly on Sitar (!) and is a good melodic vocal "stop-starter." That A-side is a chiming anthem that made it to Get Wise. Even though I'm now sad to see this dollar bin record go, I'm glad the sale made me actively reexamine a band long gone that I always like when I hear 'em.
Sometimes music can be that way.
