The 60's Bang hits of Neil Diamond were compiled here in 1970 when Neil had a label change to MCA.  He was cranking enough hits that people wanted to buy this set to the tune  of #53 on Billboard.  "Cracklin' Rosie" was number 1 that summer.  His live Gold album was top 10 earlier that year with many of the same songs.  His studio album Tap Root Manuscript capped of the year peaking at #13.

For me Neil's Bang records are the most enjoyable to listen to of his extensive catalog.  AM radio singles, generally upbeat and sunny with a little session man rocking that got smoothed out of his later MOR years.  Deep Purple to the Monkees made it Rock vernacular.

More "real deal " than many.
