A mix of 2 great bands for a one off collaboration. Trans Am were one of the best bands of the 90's, and also excellent in that era, The Fucking Champs (formerly The Champs, but the band that did "Tequila" had the name first). Both of these bands specialized in indie rock instrumentals: The Champs were hard rock by way of SST, Trans Am were a Albini Chicago-keyboard hybrid.
This 5 song EP kicks of with a Thin Lizzy style number "Give It To You." What is being given isn't exactly clear, but it seems quite important, no matter what it is. "The Big Machine" is definitely Trans Am territory"First Comes Sunday Morning" is an elegant instrumental that kicks off the next duel guitar rockin' track "Then Comes Saturday Night." The Trans Am atmosphere closes with "Somebody Like You" which sounds like a late night TV promo theme for a movie begore vocals kick in.
I didn't invest as much time with this hybrid as I did with the respective root bands. The shrink wrap was slit open, so clearly the CD was played at some point back in 2001.
It took a couple decades to get an honest feel for the extended play.
