Excellent compilation of singles from 1967-8 from London's The Attack.  This was part of a consignment collection and I never really focused on this band.  I don't think they were even on the 4-CD British Nuggets UK comp but they were on the Mojo Psych Out comp I reviewed a while ago.  Time has not been kind to the early 90's computer artwork meets Yellow Submarine-influenced cover.  Later compilations of these Decca singles didn't replicate the psychedelic parade imagery.  Apparently RPM issued the definitive psych issue of these tracks as About Time! in 2006.  Get Back issued Final Daze in 2001 with 70's demos.

So many great tracks on this particular early edition, most were on the Decca label in the UK.    The namesake precedes "Beat On The Brat" by the Ramones nearly a decade before.  So many great songs: the debut single "Try It,"  "Hi Ho Silver Lining" with a hippy hat, distorted guitar of the trip song "Strange House," "Feel Like Flying" as well as "Freedom For You."  "Anymore Than I Do," "Lady Orange Peel"  So much quality here.

"Neville Thumbcatch" has a garden alabaster gnome and radishes growing.  His wife takes off with the milkman to have kids not Brussel sprouts.  Poor Neville, he now has holes in his socks.

Beat for the freaks.
