The Coachmen's 1979 demo (not to be confused with the 60's Nebraska garage band) was released for people like me that had to have each and every Sonic Youth detritus.  Quality was irrelevant, after Evol/Sister I had to have it all.  It stayed that way for a good 10-20 years depending on how deep the dive.

I have no idea who is singing on this whether young Thurston or the other guitarist JD King.  Either way it sounds like a Lou Reed worshipper.  In Connecticut in the late 70's, that was not a common thing, as the liner notes on the back cover will tell you if you bother to read them, which I did for the first time ever the other day.  It's pretty long for a 5 track demo.  It might take longer to read the notes than listen to the record.

The side closer on the first one is my favorite of the 5, "Household Word" has a nice turn of phrase and sounds like "Witchi-tai-to" by Brewer and Shipley in parts.  Yup, it's 70's and someone had Chief Halftown in their CT grade school experience.  I know I did in Worcester.

"Radical Lifestyle" has a Feelies kind of thing going, so what else is there to say.

Velvets and Feelies.  That is all. Whoa Ron Ne Ka.

Hey Nay Hey Nay No Wah.
