When Free Kitten was formed I was genuinely excited about the pairing of Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth and Julie Cafritz of Pussy Galore/Action Swingers.  What a combo!  The initial 12" wasn't very good except for the theme song: We're Kitten and We're Better Than You!

Fast forward a few years and they were a bit more established when this single came out on Kill Rock Stars.  Hearing it a few times makes me like it.  The opener "Kitten Bossanova" ba-ba-ba's it's way into your heart and "Punk V Punk" is more in the vein of "Eliminator Jr."  For me the track of the record is "Coco's Theme."  Perhaps the quote of a child as inspiration.

Or perhaps not.
