Buffalo, New York's The Road were a pop-psych group from 1967-70. This single covers The Zombies' "She's Not There" and backs it with the mostly instrumental "A Bummer". The Zombies cover kicked off the 1969 debut album.
This was given to me to sell on consignment and it has sat about 5 years awaiting that fateful day. I personally had never heard this, and thought it was a rather good cover 5 years on from the original hit record. In modern perspective it seems a bit close to release a cover as an A-side this close to the original, but on further review there's a slow down "psychedelic" element that revs up the excitement of the track. Plus much shorter timelines were commonplace in the 60's. Nice organ outro as well.
The mostly instrumental B-side, "A Bummer," didn't make it on the album.
Groovy, man!
