Likeable one-off post-Nirvana band from bass player Krist "No Vaseline" Novoselic.  He is doing something admirably different here with Venezuelan street singer Yva Las Vegass.  A little "South of the Border Spice" to his mainstream alterna-90's approach.  This might've faired better on an indie, but because it was the bass player of Nirvana only a few year out, it got all the bells and whistles that Yva could never muster on her own.  It's her showcase.  Her big shot.  You can do Latin music Commercial American Rock hybrid on a big budget, this is the "artist-friendly" freewheeling 90's after all!  Or was it?

I snapped it up when it came out, curious of what the tall man was gonna do now.  I bought a nice new $8.99 used promo maybe even prior to release at Sounds on St. Marks.  It might have been the only week a used copy of Sweet 75 would go for that much money.  There were no hits and it was an almost instant cut out.  Despite this they actually reconvened to record a second album that dissolved due to "creative differences."  Krist went on to Eyes Adrift and politics.

Although in it's day I retained none of the music, despite my initial enthusiasm to hear it, upon further repeated listening this week, there are some good tracks on this.  Particularly the openers "Fetch" and the sex song "Lay Me Down."  Nice guitar on "Take Another Step."

Somehow Herb Alpert got recruited on "La Vida."  That's how big Nirvana were in 1997.  Yva Las Vegass has emerged over the years on Tiny Desk in 2012 and as a Bound Bouncer in the 2019 film Adam.

It looks like she is comfortably back to the street from where she came.
