6-song covers EP that advanced the full length Happy Now in 1992.  The opener, the 1962 Isley Brothers cover "Nobody But Me" made a #8 Billboard hit by the Human Beinz in 1968, also made the Happy Now album.

The song I most associate as a great Lyres cover is "We Sell Soul"  by  the 13th Floor Elevators which closes the EP..  This also appeared on the 1986 A Promise Is A Promise album.  From the same album the Lyres also rock up "Here's A Heart" by Davy Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich..  The Dead Boys Stiv Bators who had passed in 1990 before this release, guest appears on this track.

The nugget obscurities that flesh this out are TTHHEMM's "Baby (I Need Your Lovin)"  from 1966, Bobby Roberts and the Ravons 1964 single "How Can I Make Her Mine" and a mistitled song by the Scavengers 1966 single  "Baby If You're Happy" which was correctly titled on the Happy Now album.

Jeff might tell you he knew these songs from some other record that I just don't know because I'm out of time.  All his covers have an air of familiarity whether I know them or don't, but these were all released before I was born.  The great thing about  Lyres for me were originals, some of which are among the greatest recordings Rock has to offer in the 80's. This is a good pre-release sort of thing, but for me it's all about the Ace of Hearts years and seeing Monoman in the flesh do some of his hits and covers live whenever possible.  The A records for me are On Fyre, Lyres Lyres and A Promise Is A Promise.

Start with those first and fill in the holes later.
