Reasonable 5 volume overview of the titans of the Pacific Northwest. Somehow I never bought the other 4 volumes. There was a big gap in Vol. 4 in 1993 to Vol. 5 in 2009, and until today I never knew either existed. Had they crossed my finger in a singles bin, they would've been bought.
Of these 4, my favorite is the track from the long running Rancid Vat. There's a sort of laid back guy punk rock atonal vocal I appreciate. Mudhoney of course are the titans and "Bush Pusherman" (the FIRST Bush President) was the days topic of scorn for Mark Arm. I probably bought this single to have this cut before the March To Fuzz compilation in 2000 put all these songs in one place. There the song is called "Bushpusher Man" Calamity Jane were an ok "chick band" that I paid $20 for an import cd of with this very song. Night Kings were garage rock whose lone album release on Steve Turner's Super Electro label in 1992 I managed to ignore despite both Mudhoney and Sub Pop affiliation that would typically find it's way into my collection. I'm actually streaming that one album right now for the hell of it even as I still can't think of anything to ponder about their track within.
It sounds alright.
