Where and When Bought: The Fountain Collection

Gwiz-gau Letter Grade: B-

Sad To See It Go: No

Another from the box of CD my friend Fountain gave me after he couldn't unload them on Carmine St. Somebody bought a brand new one on Christmas Day of over $16 bucks, but the used market on Sleigh Bells CD catalog is soft.  I probably undergraded this one a bit, Fountain kept it pristine.

Normally I would completely ignore something like this, which made it intriguing to listen to amongst the more standard 90's fare in my collection this sold with.  Angelic (think Yolandi of Die Antwoord) vocals of Alexis Krauss and good metal guitar moments, over a bed of electronics that sound a little saturated for my taste.  Like it was made for pop radio without the outlet.  I guess that is what is "alternative" this past decade.  Big enough to make #12 on the Billboard album chart and get a Saturday Night Live appearance.  This is all news to me 10 years later.   Derek Miller on guitar and production comes from the band Poison the Well, the Miami metalcore band I completely ignored for their entire duration.

Still, I can see why Fountain bought it, it has it's alterna-metal charms, and if you hear the right song on the right day maybe it'd motivate you to dig deeper. "Road To Hell" is one of those with some good chugging meets ethereal.

Not a complete discography band, they are now 6 deep and going.
