A nice change of pace from the B-52's all-star. Whoda thunk he would get a Steve Albini production and have noise rock all stars of the day like Rick Sims of the Didjits and Russel Simins of the Blues Explosion, in the brief era in the mid-90’s where the touring fringe of indie rock could do what it wanted on a major label.
The song of the record is "Coconut." As in Nilsson's "you put the lime in the coconut." It really is well done. I remember seeing it on TV with I think the Didjits backing him if memory serves me right.
The rest of the record is maybe a little too much of a good thing. The opener "Whip" is a standout. 40 lashes on your eyes! "Sugar In My Hog" is another one--not Sweet and Low! Not Honey!!
Those were different times.
