"Yukki Gipe!"-OH State Sen. Michael Rulli, Red Bliss
And so was the quote, a tributary of sorts to the man about town Kurt Wilson who had frontman fame with Bullet LaVolta. This debut appropriately on Bomp! shortly after the passing of Greg Shaw. I got a slipcase promo in the mail when I was working on dates for fellow Boston Bomp! band The Coffin Lids.
The Konks had been recommended to me before this release and I think I might've seen them at T.T. The Bears or Middle East Upstairs on a one-off trip somewhere between recommendation and release. Garage punk as you would expect. WIlson sounds still like Yukki which is Aerosmith next gen to the point they cover "Let The Music Do The Talking" and may even reference the Joe Perry Project original, not the Aerosmith redo.
As for the originals, well they are better than later LaVolta (after The Gift). It's garage rock from Boston that loves Stooges, doesn't care about quoting the Sex Pistols to make their point with 2 drums.
Cheap guitars and only two lousy drums, as their theme song says.
