While Buy Or Records alums Pussy Galore and Raging Slab went on to fame and fortune, the excellent Children In Adult Jails languished in obscurity except for me who discovered this record in the new release bin my very first week of WICN DJing.

"Reptiles On Parade" was the one that got me.  Essentially a Dinosaur movie play by play with vocals laying waste to all man.  But it does not prepare you for one of the greatest screams on record, worthy of a man or woman or both getting powerfully dismembered by a beast that should never have been in their life.

Side One has all the hits.  The opener "Fishing For Compliments" was my number 2.  I can't quite remember anything else having the level of focus of those two.  The biggest shock putting a start to finish listen the other day, was that the record closed with a cover of "Brick House."

About 15 years ago I was doing some radio promo work for Tee Pee, probably Brian Jonestown Massacre and there was some kind of appearance or on Pseu Braun’s WFMU show or maybe I was trying to have them appear.   I excitedly recalled that she was in the great Children In Adult Jails, but she seemed like he was tired or even embarrassed of being recognized as part of this legendary international combo.

I thought this album was a "one and done" but there was a single that came out in 1991 that I just found out about.  Only bass player Laurie Es seems to have an extensive band history: Lynette SkynyrdMotochronicSpecial HeadVenus 6Wet.
