Sad To See It Go?: No

"Was that Grant Hart?" I thought to myself as the opening track "Masturbation" played.  And sure enough I somehow never noticed after all these years that I had this album I bought enthusiastically because of the Halo of Flies connection (John Anglim, Drummer) had a peak period Hüsker production, as well as backing vocals on 3 out of 8 tracks.  It was even on the "blue" period Homestead records for chrissake.

The other two guys went on to Twin/Tone band The Blue Hippos, whom I gotta be honest, didn't even play much on the radio when they came out, save a spin or few per release.  As for Spillover, I'm pretty sure WICN never had it, I was pretty psyched to find it when I did in the used bin at In Your Ear in Allston.  Many a Green line trek was taken from my apartment in the Fens in the late 80's early 90's to this great record store to blow whatever cash I had on hand.

This is the second record The Reverse Collector has recently sold with a version of the Flamin' Groovies "Slow Death" on it (see Dictators, Bloodbrothers).  It also has a cover of "Shakin' All Over."  But the best track for me is not a Hart background yelp or a cover, it is a track called "Shine."  It still has a rudimentary feel that would soon be crushed by Garbage Rock, Halo of Flies EP that obliterated all in it's wake making the early AmRep singles expensive and out of print.

Spillover was a bit light and loose.

A freer form of wank.  Satisfying, but not earth shattering.
