Dutch prog band Focus tends to get overlooked. They are still around today and of course "Hocus Pocus" was a yodeling commercial megahit to this day. This one did pretty well also peaking in the US #36, the UK #6 and topped the Netherlands chart for a week. "Sylvia" was the single from this and it had an air of familiarity amid the prog epics.
Usually an 8-track double from 1972 doesn't last, particularly if GRT put it out as they did for this Sire issue. However, I'm pleased to note it played great start to finish several times. There's always the 8-track fear on the very quiet parts that the tape broke, but not here. I have a copy of the album kicking around also, but looking at the digital overhaul the track order and the cover is totally different.
My favorite track on the record is "Focus III" and my least favorite is the band solo breakdown "Anonymous II" that lasts a side and a half (or a track and a half in this case).
Definitely worth getting for heavy prog fans.
