"A Dwarves record? Nobody buys a Dwarves record!" intoned veritable record clerk Conrad at In Your Ear in a way that I remembered it to this day. They were on the forthcoming Sub Pop Singles Club list so I knew it was something to pick up fast, but that news hadn't fully traveled yet. This was well before the days of the stone cold classic Blood, Guts and Pussy.
A transitional release of sorts, Toolin' For A Warm Teabag finds the Dwarves moving on from the garage rock debut Horror Stories on Voxx Records to the thick hardcore style flesh out on Blood Guts & Pussy before their more melodic approach on Sugar Fix.
In 7 minutes there are 7 songs that blitz by. "Let's Get Pregnant" with the baby crying interruption was the standout for me back then. "Free Cocaine" and really the overall assault in totality stand out today.
It's our only hope!
