Sad To See It Go: No

Grace Budd were a Boston band that my college era friend Nicole Pinto played in before she moved to NYC for a spell.  I last saw her in NYC about 7 years ago, where she had located in London and took her then band the Franklys on a short tour where my band played with them at Parkside Lounge.  After keeping it going for decades, it seems her new one  based in  London, Girls In Synthesis is getting a bit of traction and press.  So kudos for Nicole for sticking with it!  The Frankys seem to have continued without her and still releasing records.through 2019.

As for the other members of Grace Budd, Adam Demers and Jay Parkhurst went on to be in Lint. after Nicole moved to NYC.  The other guitarist Jason Pepe seems to have hung it up at least release wise.

This record was enjoyable.  Nicole's vocals wail and scream as her drums pummel much in the same way they still do in GIrls In Synthesis.  The A-side one of the guys sing, and it is of the noisy pop variety but you'll just have to buy the record to hear it since it doesn't seem to be in streamland.

The only downer is you hear why 33 7" singles crammed with music always sound a bit too compressed and lo-fi, although this sounds like it was recorded on a 4-track, so maybe it ultimately didn't matter.

I enjoyed listening to this.
