Surreal Thing is a fairly middling to good Kris Kristofferson album bookended by two great songs. The opener "You'll Show Me Yours (And I'll Show You Mine)" is instantly memorable and "If You Don't Like Hank Williams" you can kiss his ass. Why sugar coat it?
The rest of the album is loaded with characters. Eddie The Eunuch, The Prisoner, The Golden Idol and someone Killing Time. The one who has a life of his own lost in the steel and the stone. The background singers are notable notables like Clydie King, Billy Swan, Gary Busey and Rita Coolidge. There's a bit of LA Sunday morning coming down in Kris's delivery, as expected in 1976.
You show me yours. And I'll. Show you mine.
