I wasn't the worlds biggest fan of New Jack Swing in 1989 and let this album pass me by.  I forgot how I wound up with a promo copy of it in the first place.  It does have Afrika Bambaataa on it as well as the Ohio Players, so I was curious to give it a listen.  This was a Jazzy Jay production who was a Bambaataa protégé out of the Bronx.

Turns out it was a little more hip hop than I remembered.  The stand out tracks for me were "Morning Madness," a story rap that concludes with a phone call to mom begging a bail-out from jail.  That was out of the DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince school of story raps.  "Victims To The Games" right after that track sounds a little dirtier. "Don't Think About It" was my favorite for the scratch into. As for the guest star tracks,"Skin Tight" has the Ohio Players playing on it.    "Body Slam" has Bambaataa.  It kind of reminds me of an early version of Digital Underground's "The Humpty Dance."  This track spawned a 12" with infinite mixes.

A dance instruction where you do whatever you like.
