For me, the most important music of Mudhoney fit on one side of a 45 minute tape.  That means the the first ep, the first couple singles and compilation tracks around that period.  The next couple albums were a level, but with a slight decay in the initial blast that was Superfuzz Bigmuff and the bands rise in grunge era popularity.  The cover of Fang, "The Money Will Roll Right In," definitely was closer to art imitating real life than anyone could image a year or two later.  

While March To Fuzz rendered all EP's irrelevant, this one stands as a signpost of sorts. Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge was at the time a divisive record with the band turning away from the Blue Cheer derivative to more of a garage rock party band.  For me, I was still on board, but there were some people that liked Superfuzz that couldn't stand this.

3 of the 5 here were band classics: the aforementioned Fang cover, the title track "single," and the alternate demo version of "Checkout Time."  This version doesn't have the organ that made it to the albums closing track, making it sound a little "heavier."

I completely forgot the difference if I ever thought about it.
