New Zealand's Flying Nun record label have consistently kicked out quality independent bands since 1981, although it was sold to Warner then a consortium including Neil Finn. The Bats had been around since 1982 and this single was nearly a decade on. They are still going.
The A-side was big enough to have a video for it, and it's a standard high level jangle-pop. That it didn't translate into popularity here is no surprise. It didn’t stick with me at the time either outside of an obligatory on air spin or few. The B-side is a bit more ethereal twee pop along the lines of Sarah Records.
As good a place as any to start.for a 40 year running band having well over a dozen official and unofficial releases to date.
