Scottish band from Glasgow, Urusai Yatsura truncated to Yatsura in the US due to name conflict with the comic book. For whatever reason you can't find the complete album in stream land, but a couple videos and most of the tracks are up under their homeland namesake.
I gave this a headphone listen last night, and all I could think of was this was generic Pavement inspired indie rock of the late 90's. Inoffensive, but definitely a dollar bin gamble where I found it. The ché label generally produced releases I liked at radio, and I think to get my deal I had to pull a certain number of cds. I think it was 20 for 20. In the 90's I had no problem going through crates on the piss soaked area under the steps on St. Marks to get at bargain CD's.
The band at least acknowledges the Pavement over-influence in "Kozee Heart" with a heartfelt intro not to take the piss out of them for being influenced by Steve Malkmus. I have to admit it made me appreciate them a little more and not dock them down further than C-.
File with Sammy.
