Odds and sods compilation released to get some platinum level sales post Nevermind, though it took 3 whole years to do it.  I think I bought it straight away new at a chain.  The tracks that were out were all great.  "Sliver" is missing the crucial answering machine outro with a groggy conversation.  EP tracks like "Aneurysm" and "Stain" are just as good as anything else they did.

Nirvana is one of those bands that I stopped actively listening to even though they were listened to non stop in their heyday. They were part and parcel of a healthy live club scene that got co-opted as most scenes do.  Everybody wanted to prospect for gold and leave poverty and $5 door covers behind if they could.

These tracks were played more on their original releases.  The Blew EP on Tuepelo, the Hormoaning Japanese import that had the Peel Sessions with the Vaselines covers were all in heavy home and mix tape and radio show rotation for me, not to mention peripheral soundtrack of my life.  

For me I rank 'em Bleach, In Utero, Nevermind and this is terms of albums released in Kurt's lifetime, with MTV Unplugged in the play once and file away category, Meat Puppets be damned.  Diving into Incesticide, I enjoyed hearing it on headphones today, even the faux-heavy tracks that I had crud-fi bootleg 7"s of like "Downer" and "Aero Zeppelin." 

Sounds full of hopeful youth.
